Implant-supported dentures are the best way to treat widespread tooth loss, but you might have been told you don't qualify for treatment. Plus, traditional techniques can be expensive and time-consuming.

At The Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Center of Santa Fe, we offer the All-on-4® treatment method to shorten your healing time and minimize the need for bone grafting.

So why should you choose All-on-4?

What is the All-on-4® Procedure?

During All-on-4® implant placement, Dr. Healy will use our live navigation surgery system to place the posts at a 45-degree angle in your jawbone. The X-Guide™ by X-Nav will provide 3-D images and turn-by-turn guidance. Utilizing this system, Dr. Healy can place your implants with incredible precision. The All-on-4® concept typically involves four implant posts per dental arch. However, Dr. Healy may use a different number, depending on your health and the structure of your jaw. On your lower jaw, he may use three to four implant posts. On your upper jaw, he will often position five implants for enhanced stability.

On the same day as your implant surgery, Dr. Healy will attach a temporary denture. After your complete recovery, you will return to receive your permanent prosthetic.

By angling your implants, Dr. Healy will create greater support for your denture.

The Benefits of All-on-4®

By angling your implants, Dr. Healy will create greater support for your denture. The All-on-4® technique will also help to reduce the impact to your jawbone. In addition, this method of implant placement can eliminate the need for preparatory treatments. On the upper jaw, Dr. Healy can position the posts so that they parallel your sinus passages. In this way, he can often avoid the need for a sinus lift. On the lower jaw, he can place implants in front of your nerve, reducing the already low risks of implant surgery. Finally, with the All-on-4® concept, you can enjoy an immediately restored smile. Though you will still have a limited diet while you are healing, the custom-made temporary prosthetic will look more realistic than a traditional removable denture.

Advanced Zygomatic Implants

If you have suffered severe bone recession, you may have been told that you are not a candidate for implant-supported dentures. Zygomatic implants may be the solution, offering support for a prosthetic on your upper dental arch. Dr. Healy will insert these longer implants into your cheekbones, rather than your jawbone. Thus, he can eliminate the need for bone grafting or a sinus lift. These preparatory surgeries typically require an additional six to 12 months of recovery before you can receive your implants. Zygomatic implants also have a higher success rate than traditional implants combined with a graft or sinus lift.

Dr. Healy will use our advanced technology, including CAT scans, to evaluate your jawbone health. Then he can determine whether All-on-4® or zygomatic implants are right for you.

I was nervous... but Dr. Healy and his nurses put me at ease, and he even gave me a call the evening after surgery to make sure I was ok. From a Google Review
